What is BRT?
Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is a high – quality bus based transit system that delivers fast, comfortable, and cost effective services. The System uses dedicated lanes, with busways and stations typically aligned at the centre of the road. Because BRT contains features like a light rail or metro system, it is more reliable, convenient and faster than regular bus services. With right features, a BRT system can avoid delay factors that typically slow regular bus services.
Dar es Salaam BRT system has a total of 30 Bus Stations and 5 Terminals at Kimara, Ubungo, Morocco, Gerezani and Kivukoni. The length of BRT phase one routes cover a total of 20.9 Kilometres. UDART operates bus fleet for a period of 19 hours per day starting at 5:00am and ending at 00:00pm
